I found some time to paint, but instead of working on some of the longer term projects I decided to play and do this exercise that my painting teacher Pat used to have me do when I got stuck or bored or needed to do something with more energy. Some of you may have done this before and it is a lot of fun.
You make a bunch of watercolor washes and then kind of go crazy with the watercolor techniques at random. I used some salt, some crumpled plastic wrap, dripped extra water on, splatter them with various colors (white often spreads in an interesting way on dark colored washes) and then I let them dry and put them in a part of my apartment where I am going to walk by them and look at them and think about them.
The human brain always likes to make sense of things, so it will try very hard to make a picture out of the randomly applied shapes or colors like a Rorschach ink blot. The idea is to go with the flow and let you mind find the picture and start painting to accentuate what you see so that other people will be able to see it too.
The four new bunnies are the results of my messing about with this.
